Rain Drop’s work goes beyond the projects it is leading in India. It makes raising awareness a top priority. For this reason, Rain Drop France’s team is touring schools in the PACA region; interacting with young students, educating them about the issues of biodiversity and exposing them to cultural diversity. This initiative also permits us to talk about our projects and at the same time empower this young audience by providing the children with means to act.

On April 4, the Victor Asso de la Trinité Elementary School, near Nice, hosted one of our afternoon sessions for the second time. Two CM1 and CM1/CM2 classes (Year 5 and 6) watched the documentary that we shot in India in 2012 and they were able to discover the typical day of two children living in the small village of Chetteni, in which we run one of our projects.

Our film, “If you were born in a village in India …”, along with the presentation of Cédric Michel (volunteer with Rain Drop France) who exposed our work through his experience and travels in India with the NGO, attracted strong interest from the children who were anxious to ask many questions, incredibly relevant and interesting!
The final quiz concluded the workshop and permitted the children to give their opinion and interact one last time on certain environmental and ethical issues.

In summary, the session was a rewarding encounter for both Rain Drop and for the students who seemed highly motivated. The next day, they all decided to write an article on how the documentary and workshop had impacted them! The article appeared in their school newspaper.

Again, many thanks to the teachers and children who participated!
